Generation 7: Alola

Sun and Moon replaced gyms with island trials and introduced regional forms: Alolan Vulpix, Exeggutor, Marowak and others reimagined as adaptations to the Hawaiian-inspired islands. Z-Moves offered a once-per-battle super move, and the Ultra games expanded the Ultra Beast storyline.

The 88 species numbered here include the island guardians, Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma, the Ultra Beasts, and the Mythicals Magearna, Marshadow and Zeraora. Meltan and Melmetal, introduced through Pokémon GO and the Let’s Go games, close out the range. The starters are Rowlet, Litten and Popplio.
