Short answers about using the picker.
- How long does a run take?
It depends on how big your pool is and how many you compare at once. Starting from all 1,025 Pokémon in pairs is a long session; raising the batch size to 4, 8 or 12 cuts the number of screens sharply, and narrowing the pool by generation or type cuts it further. The remaining count on screen is the number of Pokémon still competing for the next slot.
- Can I stop and come back later?
Yes. Your run is saved in your browser automatically after every pick. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and you will be exactly where you left off. The save lives on your device only, so it will not follow you to another browser or phone.
- Why does it keep going after I find my favourite?
Because it can rank more than one. When your #1 is crowned, every Pokémon it eliminated comes back to compete for #2, and so on. Stop whenever the list is as long as you want it. See how it works for the mechanics.
- What does Skip do?
It eliminates nobody. The batch on screen goes to the back of the queue and comes around again later, paired with different Pokémon. Use it when you genuinely cannot choose, not when you like neither: picking one you dislike less is still useful information.
- I eliminated a Pokémon by accident.
Undo reverses the last decision. If it was several picks ago, look it up under “Missing someone?” on the results panel: it shows who beat it and lets you rescue it back into the running.
- Can I only compare certain Pokémon?
Yes. Edit pool lets you filter by generation and by type, and restrict the field to starters, fully evolved Pokémon, or Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Filters can be changed in the middle of a run without losing the favourites you have already found.
- Are Mega Evolutions, regional forms and Gigantamax forms included?
No. There is one entry per National Pokédex number, which keeps the count at 1,025 and avoids asking you to compare a Pokémon against itself. Alolan Ninetales, Mega Charizard X and Hisuian Zoroark are all represented by their base species.
- Can I use Shiny sprites?
Yes. The sprite toggle switches every Pokémon on the page, including your found favourites, between regular and Shiny colouring. The choice is remembered with your run.
- Where do the sprites come from?
They are the Generation V-style pixel sprites: official game sprites for Pokémon that appeared in Black and White, and fan sprites in the same style from the Smogon Sprite Project for every generation since.
- Is pokepick free? Do I need an account?
Free, and no account. The site is supported by ads and by readers who buy the developer a coffee. Nothing about you is stored on a server; see the privacy policy.
- Is this an official Pokémon site?
No. pokepick is an unofficial fan project. Pokémon names and images are the property of The Pokémon Company and Nintendo, and neither is affiliated with or endorses this site.
